Grand Junction-Area Wineries

Home to dozens of wineries, the toughest part of a visit to Colorado's Wine Country might be picking which one is your favorite. That's why we recommend tasting plenty of different kinds before you decide! Make a visit to some of the amazing local wineries and see if your new favorite wine was grown in Colorado.

For wine and fruit lovers, we also recommend visiting Palisade, Colorado. Located twenty minutes east of Grand Junction, Palisade is one of the most popular wine regions in Colorado. Home to over 25 vineyards, Palisade is a great place to spend an afternoon trying local wines.

The Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Area

"The Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range is located between De Beque and Grand Junction is one of only three ranges in the U.S. set aside specifically to protect wild horses. It covers over 36,000 acres of rugged canyons and plateaus. More than 100 horses roam the sagebrush parks and pinyon-juniper covered hills but it was late morning when we arrived to catch a glimpse of the wild horses. They only appear in the early morning and late evening hours.

We hiked and enjoyed scenic views of colored rocks on the little book cliffs. The trails dipped and weaved through intriguing rock formations and challenging drainage ways. Definitely a pleasant way to spend an afternoon."

Big Dominguez Canyon

Dominguez Canyon is one of the prettiest canyons on the Colorado Plateau and considering the ease of access and the well-established trail, this hike is a must do.

Big Dominguez Canyon is a beautiful hike.  The hike is located in the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area, a BLM administered area about 20 miles south of Grand Junction along the Gunnison River.  The Big Dominguez Canyon Trail is very long and can be explored for days on end.

Primitive shelters and petroglyphs can be explored on this hike.
